Project Description

WHAT IS MICRO MAGNET?

A micro magnet, as the name implies, is a tiny and micro-sized magnet. Permanent magnets are considered micro magnets when their dimensions in all directions measure less than 5mm.

These miniature magnets feature compact dimensions, strong magnetic force, wide range of applications.

WHAT MATERIALS ARE COMMONLY USED TO CREATE MICRO MAGNETS?

Custom Strong Neodymium Micro Magnets

Given that magnets are inherently brittle materials, fine machining them is very challenging.

Therefore, traditional miniature magnets are mainly bonded magnetic products.

Nevertheless, with the advancement of machining machines and technology, more hard magnetic materials are being used to process micro-magnets. Such as samarium cobalt, neodymium iron boron, alnico, ferrite and so on. Currently, samarium cobalt and neodymium iron boron micro magnets are selected more.

WHAT IS THE SMALLEST MAGNET YOU CAN BUY?

Currently the strong micro magnets that we can customize are smaller than a grain of rice. For example, miniature cylindrical magnets D0.8x1mm,D1x1mm.

The thickness of the small magnet can be as thin as 0.2mm. However, the scrap rate of different thicknesses is different. The thinner the magnet, the higher the scrap rate, so the cost of producing the magnet will be higher.

WHAT ARE MICRO MAGNETS USED FOR?

Permanent magnets find numerous applications in modern technology and engineering. Micro magnets become pivotal in cases where end products are miniaturized, such as in watches, digital cameras, and miniature sensors.

Here are some specific uses for tiny magnets:

  • Micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) technologies: In micro-automation systems, micromagnets can be used to achieve precise position control, sensing and manipulation. They can be used to create tiny actuators that enable precise movement and operation of micromechanical systems such as micromanipulators, micropumps, and microvalves.
  • Medical equipments: Micromagnets play a key role in medical equipments. They can be used to control and navigate tiny medical devices, such as microcapsule endoscopes.

    • Electronic consumer goods: Micro magnets are widely used in electronic consumer goods such as mobile phones, tablet computers, and earphones. For example, vibration motors in mobile phones use tiny magnets to generate vibration feedback, while magnetic components in speakers drive sound production.
    • Eyelash magnets: The combination of eyelashes and magnets can allow you to obtain more rapid, convenient and natural effects in eye makeup, and make false eyelashes reusable, no longer a one-time product.
    • Scientific research: Micro magnets also play an important role in physics and material science research. Researchers can use micromagnets to explore the magnetic properties of materials and study the behavior of magnetic fields at tiny scales.

WHAT IS THE SMALLEST MAGNET IN THE WORLD?

A slice of material, just a single atom thick, Nano-scientists have created the world’s smallest magnet. It’s unbelievably small – you’d have to rely on a high-powered microscope just to catch a sneak peek of it.

However, the current version of this magnet is merely a prototype. As making it is a complex and time-consuming process. We’re eagerly anticipating more exploration & progress from scientists, so that this technology can eventually find its way into various practical applications.
